Managers should be knowledgeable about the Fair Labor Standards Act because not knowing the law can be very detrimental to a company. They should understand the Fair Labor Standards Act exemptions to avoid errors. Employers should implement use of an automated time tracking system to track, record and save time punches. The time punches must be kept on file with other important employee related information. There should be trainings done to recertify management when there has been an amendment. This can be used as a way to ensure companies know the law and ensures management is abiding by the law. These trainings should also review the penalties of violating the law to stress the importance. To be compliant employees should not pay employees less than the minimum wage that is required by federal government unless there is a legitimate exemption. Companies should ensure compliance by paying their employees the overtime pay that was earned in an accurate and timely manner. It is mandated by the law to have a record of an employee's hours of work and their income earned. To be compliant these records must be kept for no less than three years. Having a time keeping system is complying with the Fair Labor Standards Act but also the records must be accurate. Companies must be compliant when employing minors. There are child labor laws that are in place to protect minors who are employed. It is imperative that the company adhere to the guidelines of employing minors. The company will be known as a company that does not violate the law. It will have an impact on the company because the reputation of the company would not be tarnished. This also leads to more employees being satisfied with their place of work. According to najnajnan, employees that have been treated unfairly tends to search for other jobs to escape being treated unfair. If employees are being treated fairly they tend to stay with the company and therefore the company does not have high turnovers. A company being accused of violating labor laws has a negative impact on the business. The company will be known as a company who was not compliant and this may lead to losing customers.
