Project MK-Ultra During the Cold War, the fear of Communism was on the rise, this growing tension had no help from the rise of military power and the growing number of arms the Soviet Union possessed. The U.S. fear of communism led to many irrational actions to be taken place as well as it led to restrictions on rights given by the constitution. Some rights that were being infringed on would be the right to believe in what you want, supported by the first amendment. Now some may believe the conspiracy of MK-Ultra is completely false and is a complete exaggeration, in reality, MK-Ultra does in fact exist, because of growing fear of the growing fear of communism and defensive ways to counteract against the Soviet Union and the Chinese.

But in fact was first referred to as, “PROJECT BLUEBIRD” which was the first attempt at mind control and interrogation methods. It was also a way for the CIA to create what is known as “super spies” and was conducted on psychiatric patients as well as inmates to give them new personalities by the use of amnesia. This was conducted with not only North American psychiatrist and doctors but also involved over 1,000 german scientists brought in from Germany to help conduct experiments on American citizens as well as patients and inmates. Over the year it not only evolved into a more sinister plot, but was also renamed into, “Project ARTICHOKE” .
