It is brutal and immoral to kill animals for food while there is a plenty of rich nutritional non-animal food. All animals are warm-blooded beings that have emotion and feeling therefore, they can experience fear, shock, and pain. Animal slaughter is a significant issue. “In the United States about 35 million cows, 115 million pigs, and 9 billion birds are killed for food each year” (Procon.org). How can so many people want to kill animals just because of their tasty meat? For example, bacon is one of the most common foods that every household has in their refrigerator. Another aspect is that there are some animals are being slaughtered while still conscious. “On Apr. 10, 2001, the Washington Post re-ignited public debate about slaughterhouses with their exposé "They Die Piece by Piece.” The investigation found that animals in slaughterhouses were often cut apart "piece by piece" while still conscious” (Procon.org). There are two methods that usually being used to kill animals. Both methods are cruel and unethical to animals. The first method would be using carbon dioxide gas. The animals will be transferred into the conveyor belt that moves through the tunnel filled with carbon dioxide gas to kill the animals. The second method would be using electricity. The electric current is applied to the animals’ head to making them unconscious. Some animals are still alive during both methods and it would make them even more painful.
