No college students begin the day telling themselves that the goal is to fail out of college, or asking themselves how one can mess up the future. No college student looks in the mirror and actively tries to do everything in their power to perform poorly and make misguided decisions. However, sometimes unbeknownst to the student, that is exactly what is happening. Whether one says yes to doing extra work, or says yes to going out with friends, neither is healthy in large quantities, and the fine line of knowing when to say no becomes blurred. Whether that situation is saying yes to doing extracurricular activities, or saying yes to going out with friends. There is a social stigma in which people believe that one has to please everyone, yet one ends up pleasing everyone but themselves. Students are faced with the fear of disappointing or angering teammates or group members if the answer was no instead of yes. However, “what they don't know is that their friends can determine their success in college,” (universitysurvival.com), whether that be negatively or positively. It is easy to say that the assignment can get accomplished tomorrow then tomorrow turns into the next day and the day after that, and before it is realized, it is last minute, and the assignment will get thrown together to attempt to pass. It all seems harmless and fun, “but is it really fun when you find yourself so far behind in all your courses, there is no time left in the semester to recover,” (universitysurvival.com). The lesson that needs to be learned here is that it does not matter how well an individual is at multitasking and juggling multiple tasks at once, there will come a time where things become overwhelming and one ends up feeling like there is no logical place to start and no projects get completed due to an overbooked
