Bill Clinton was 46 years old when he went into office, making him the youngest President since John F. Kennedy. He was also the second U.S. President to be impeached; however, not just bad things happened during his time in office. Clinton was President from 1993 to 2001, and he accomplished many things for the United States during that time. For example, he was able to create more jobs and drop the unemployment rate significantly. He also played close attention to issues in the education system. By the end of his Presidency, Clinton was able to make education a priority, which to me was his greatest success. But, just like anyone, Clinton had his high times and low times. Clinton’s ability to make education one of the most important priority’s was a huge success for him. To me, it was his biggest success during his term as President. Between 1994 and 1999, Clinton had established a program that distributed two billion dollars to set uniform standards for American schools. He had acts passed that gained the approval of other officials, such as the “1994 Improving America’s School Act (IASA) [which] received support from Republicans and Democrats and from the education and business communities”. This act required all students, including the poor and disadvantaged, with the same standards and accountabilities. These programs and acts improved public schools and raised the academic excellence. Osama bin Laden had been posing multiple threats of terrorism on the United States for a while, and his threats escalated and became a reality on September 11, 2001 when thousands of people were killed due to terrorist attacks. Weather or not 9/11 still would have taken place if Clinton would have taken action can be debated; however, I do believe that if he would have taken action earlier, things may not have turned out as bad as they did. Clinton was too distracted and busy with his fear of being impeached due to his sex scandal, that the national crisis was put aside and did not receive the attention it needed. It was reported by a former CIA station that “Clinton ordered the CIA to capture bin Laden alive, which resulted in a missed opportunity to kill him at an al-Qaida training camp in 2000”. If Clinton had responsibly taken the opportunities he had, Osama bin Laden could have possibly been killed and 9/11 could have been prevented. I believe this is biggest failure, considering the tragedy 9/11 was and still to Americans. I believe Clinton did not do everything in his ability to eliminate the threat of Osama bin Laden and that was a huge failure for him as
