Short Essay:
The Electoral College was constructed in the 1700s in which it was a process that ensured that election of the President of the United States was fair and not chaotic. It consists of the selection of the electors, the meeting of the electors where they vote for President and Vice President, and the counting of the electoral votes by Congress. Many people disagree with the system of the Electoral College being an impact when determining the President of the United States. Recently, I have read five proposals directly relating to possible systems that could eliminate the Electoral College and create a more fair way to elect a President of the United States. The five proposals are: Direct Reflection with Instant Runoff Voting, Proportional Allocation of Electoral Votes, Directly Vote with Plurality Rule, Congressional Direct Method, and the National Bonus Plan. This proposal will give each and every citizen a chance to vote. Statistics show that more people will vote if they know that there vote will make a difference. This proposal fits modern America because it will allow every American to make their voice heard when determing what President should be in office and what changes should be made. This system will allow the election of the President to be easy and fair.
Direct Reflection with Instant Runoff Voting could be used with or without the Electoral College in effect. This system will allow, each voter to not only elect a candidate but to select their preferences. This would end the spoiler dynamic of third party and independent candidates and consistently produce a majority nationwide winner. By eliminating the candidate with the lowest number of votes and picking the candidate with the highest votes will be a new system introduced in modern
