Imagine waking up knowing that since you weren’t genetically modified as a kid you're not the same as everyone else. Knowing that your family was too poor to make you as smart as everyone else or even as beautiful. Well with Genetic Editing progressing rapidly it may become reality. This is an issue often put to the side, but is extremely important because it could determine the outcome of our future generations. It will determine the cosmetic of everyone rather you are Asian you may look American cause of what your family desired at the time. Genetic editing can determine your level of intelligence, emotional IQ, and so much more. I believe we should not genetically modify embryos because we don’t have a high level of knowledge on the human …show more content…

For instance, scientists believe that “It could be the only way to get rid of certain genetic diseases (...) But if something goes wrong, the results will affect future generations who were not involved in the decision,” (Bloomberg 2). This points out that genetic modification can get rid of a considerable amount of diseases, but if something goes wrong, even the tiniest misplacement can deeply impact our future generations who didn’t even have a say to let a team of scientist modify them based off only 10% knowledge of the human body. To add on currently all over the world genetic editing “ has been performed on animal embryos, but is currently illegal for humans,” (Steere 2). This gives the impression that maybe the reason why itś illegal to perform on human embryos and scientists can solely genetically modify on animal embryos is because of risks and little information we have. Even though we are protecting even more issues in the human race we are causing more in the animal kingdom which worsens the issue because animals are suffering for our own benefit that isn't even assured possibly causing another extinct animal out of our rapidly decreasing food …show more content…

Since this is an opportunity for benefits in a war, it can cause a huge uproar on human neglect or control as well as be the cause of war cause of dispute on other countries not having such a military advantage. For example, the possible usage of genetic modification can lead to “make designer babies, dangerous mutants, and biological weapons,” (Bloomberg 1). This clearly demonstrates what the system can do from designer babies to dangerous mutants. We have already messed up a dog breed called the English Bulldog because of the standards wanted in society today. Now this breed is enabled to breathe, walk, and has many health problems for something itś fragile size. We do not need such problems in the human race today because of the many problems we already have. To add on from beauty trends to culture “Many have worried that sex selection and a preference for boys could create problems in society,” (Venosa 3). This gives you an impression on how people can overturn society today, with the popular trend of having a boy as a child. Genetic modification will overrun the human population with males at a percentage of 90% from preference. The male population is rapidly increasing at 50.4% today without modification. In the end, with the choice of creating whatever you want from the perfect child to the
