In the editorial by Ron Judd titled “Why returning grizzlies to the North Cascades is the right thing to do” found on the Seattle Times’ website, Mr. Rudd states his case for the reintroduction of Grizzly bears into the North Cascade Mountains of Washington State. He makes the argument that fatal interactions between hikers and bears are not a valid argument against reintroduction because the rarity of these encounters and the rarity of aggressive bears. He also cites some of his personal experiences encountering these animals and both his own and their reaction. Mr. Rudd uses this information to paint a picture that the bears are not as dangerous as commonly believed, using as an example the presence of grizzly bears in Yellowstone National Park which sees many more visitors than the North Cascades. Another point that Rudd discusses is his belief that bears are an important part of the wilderness experience, he shares his feelings after one of those encounters: “With senses heightened off the charts, it was as if I had stopped observing the natural world, and for the first time, stepped all the way into it.
Do you know how many gray wolves remain in North Dakota? As a result of so few packs of gray wolves left, there is no accurate total of how many still survive. The gray wolf has resulted in a threatened species as a consequence of predator-control eliminating them and destroying their habitat. Supposedly, they are killing too many livestock so predator-control is aiming additionally towards gray wolves. Though not commonly seen, gray wolves, usually mistaken for coyotes, are located everywhere in North Dakota.
Marine parks in the country like SeaWorld, have orcas in tanks that they live in captivity. They use most of the killer whales for their performances in the pool. We all know that orcas are social, and intelligent creatures, that live in the oceans of the earth. We also know that many scientist are trying to study these animals in captivity where they are in tankes. I think Killer Whales should not be in captivity because, of the injures they can get in their tanks, how they get stressed out and they are better in the wild.
The three modes of persuasion used to convince an audience are known as ethos, logos and pathos (http://pathosethoslogos.com/). The three modes are different in their use but are all three necessary to win an argument. An author would use ethos to prove that he is a reliable source to present the material or provide a reliable source to make his case. He or his source might offer credentials or provide proof that the source is credible.
Black bears have a medium to heavy frame with large ears and powerful limbs. The black bear has a coat that can differentiate from brown, cinnamon, blond, grey-blue, and of course, black. They can adapt to their environment easily but are normally found in forested areas. It has a diet that consists of fruits, buds, berries, nut, insects, and food lest by humans. They are incredible climbers that can use their claws to extract food from the trees.
Imagine stepping on your overly soggy lawn thinking about all the concerns we went through while building the Bear River dam. Many people believe that they should build the dam so that we don't run out of the water and can use more water. They also think that is essential due to Utah's growing population. However, they haven't thought of the other concerns that will happen if they build the dam. Building the dam would leave to unnecessary expenses.
In Yellowstone there are only thirteen wolf packs (©AllTrip). Wolves cover a small portion of Yellowstone, and there are only around 400 in Yellowstone. Wolves predominantly feed on hoofed animals such as elk and deer. Wolves range in size from twenty-six to thirty-six inches tall and four to six feet long. Male wolves can weigh up to 130 pounds and females up to 110 pounds.
The grizzly bears adapt to their environment by hunting down their own food. They hunt down carcasses of caribou, moose calves, walruses, ground squirrels, and salmon as well
Woolly mammoths (Mammuthus primigenius) have been extinct for a very long time, with the last of the species dying out about 3,600 years ago. But researchers say it may be possible to bring these and other extinct species back from the grave. There is significant controversy and critics over the idea of bring back to life and assert that efforts would be better spent conserving existing or endangered species. Critics of resurrection say reviving extinct animal could do more harm to conservation efforts than good. As for me, I would be disagreeing with the idea proposed.
Zoos should not be closed in Canada because there are good to our animals. Zoos are a big part in helping our animals and if they closed down then a lot of animals would be extinct.so we should. Canada should not close down any zoo because the zoo can have a big impact for helping rare species become a non-rare species. Zoos take good care of their animals because if they didn 't the zoos would be closed already there for the zoos take really good care of their animals. We should have zoos in Canada because if a little boy or girl saw an animal for the first time that boy or girl could go home and look up that animal and if they see that that animal is rare, that boy or girl could grow up to help that animal come back
But the ESA listing meant that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) had to actively recover wolves. In 1986, biologists searching for wolves in northwest Montana found a litter of wolf pups only 10 miles below the Canadian border in Glacier National Park. They were the first confirmed wolves born in the western U.S. in decades. A few wolves were also documented in Idaho and Wyoming during the 1980s and 90s, but most were poisoned or shot. In 1993, USFWS proposed five alternative plans for wolf recovery.
The way that Mary Shelley uses and incorporates elements from her personal life, including the tragedies she experienced and her unique education, as well as scientific experiments of her time. Through her storytelling, Shelley draws from and transforms these sources to create a captivating narrative in Frankenstein. In Frankenstein, we see how the author seemingly includes her personal life into the narrative, drawing from her own tragedies and unique education to shape the story. In the Documentary (Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein) it stated ‘’Mary Shelley faced death both as a child and as a young woman.
Prescribed fires are very useful. They do many things to help like reduce hazardous fuels, help stop the spread of insects and diseases, recycles nutrients back into the soil and many more. These examples show that prescribed fires are helpful for the population. whether it be the animals or the people, they help in major ways. These help the animals in more ways than they help us, but if they help the animals, that means that they're well fed and that is good for everyone.
Wildlife Conservation is often seen as a bad thing, but if you look at it from my perspective, then it is actually a good thing. People think of it as holding wild animals captive, but we are actually protecting them from poachers. The purpose of Wildlife Conservation is to protect the animals in danger, which I am in agreement 110%. Other people argue that we shouldn’t have conservations, but they don’t know the harm that can happen to unprotected animals.
Zoos have been around since the eighteenth century. A zoo is defined as a compound where wild animals are kept for viewing and studying. The purpose of a zoo is mainly for education and protection, preserving animal species that are either at a risk of becoming extinct or for increased collection size (Jamieson). Animals from around the world have been enclosed in an area where we can admire and study these fine creatures. However, many modern zoos around the world have introduced animal shows, petting and feeding sessions to attract more visitors in order to earn more money.
