Natural Gas and Fracking:Economic Realities of Alternative
Natural gas is a cornerstone of the US economy, providing a quarter of the country’s total energy. However the negative externality is heavy . The increase of energy production brings us environment pollution and economic problems. All these are related to Hydraulic Fracking. Since Hydraulic Fracking was used as a new technique of energy exploitation in 1947, it has eventually accounted for nearly 70% of natural gas development in North America. In the other hand, the disadvantage is getting obvious, The environmental impact of Fracking causes air emissions, water pollution and risk of earthquakes, which emerge plenty public debates about whatever government should prohibits Hydraulic Fracking.

Hydraulic Fracking is a kind of process of creating cracks in underground geological formations to allow natural gas to flow into the wellbore and come out of the well. Fracking really is a trump which make the energy dream come true. However it also becomes an environmental nightmare. While fracking continues providing jobs and high amount of natural gas, it exposes another opportunity cost: risks to our environment, homeland and health. Aa a result, it causes an intense debate: Should we outlaw Hydraulic Fracking? In my opinion, our economy is dependent on fracking, which means the prices of resource, like electricity and heating, will increase if we pause it. Hydraulic fracturing is becoming one of the most important part on the resource supply chain. The productivity of natural gas is increasing by fracking, but everything we purchase has an energy component to it. So it benefits most areas in our life. According to Bruce McKenzie Everett, “Natural gas has become incredibly inexpensive, the prices going from$10 or $11 per thousand cubic feet 10 years ago down to 3.77now, because the supply that has been
