Some people believe that World War II could have been prevented in a simple way, what if we could go back in time and simply take the Olympics out of Berlin, some people believe this could have prevented World War II. Of course there was much evidence that Nazi Germany was racist against the Jews, but could anyone really believe it? The people who did took a stand to take the Olympics out of Berlin, they knew the possibility of what bad things could happen with a German city holding the Olympics in a time of distress. Evidence from German propaganda, mistreatment of Jews, and the debate to take out the Olympics in Berlin, demonstrate that the Olympics should have been taken out of Berlin. “Many organizations tried, with little to no success, to find some way to remove the Games from Germany or to organize mass boycotts against them,”(Pound) The International Olympic committee could have been paid a lot of money from Germany or even threatened to keep the Olympics in Germany. Hitler tried to prevent this by silencing ideas of Nazi discrimination to minorities so that the word would not be spread before the Olympics. “There has been some speculation that, had an effective boycott been organized, the Nazi regime might have collapsed and the world might have been spared the horrors of the Second World War”,(Pound). Since there is a possibility that if the Olympics taken out of Germany World War II could have been prevented The Olympics of course had a big impact on the propaganda of Germany. If the Olympics would have been taken out then possibly Germany could have retaliated and unleashed wrath on its boycotters. If the IOC (International Olympics Committee) would have even thought about revoking the games in Berlin there is possibility they could have possibly prevented a war, but no further thought was given to taking the Olympics out of
