1. Personally, I believe the constitution was the better document because it had more power. The articles of confederation gave the states more power than congress had, and because of this states either did was it said or did not. Because of the states having more power over Congress, the states did not focus on the needs of the whole country but only cared for their own state and what is best for their people. The constitution is better because it was easier to make changes and amendments to it.
She felt like she was representing her people and Australia. She later danced through a victory lap carrying Australian and Aboriginal flags. (Freeman,
Miranda Wood B6 A recent mass shooting at a Charleston Church, where nine black worshippers were killed by a white man, has sparked even more debate about an old and controversial symbol: the Confederate battle flag. In his National Review Article, David French argues that the Confederate flag, though it should not be used as a symbol of white supremacy, should be remain in public for historical purposes. He claims that the reason the flag still hangs over Confederate cemeteries is to honor those who fought for the Confederacy, not to discriminate against African Americans.
To celebrate the founding of this country, many things come to mind when we are asked to describe the quality of America. From the various liberties Americans enjoy to the racial and ethnic mix of Americas people. The concept of the American Dream can be found throughout our culture and our history. It can also be found in the most humble of places. It is present in the efforts and sacrifices of a first generation American family to see their kids graduate
I do not think that they are being disrespectful towards the military or the flag because that is not what they are protesting against. They are simply trying to bring awareness to an issue that has been affecting the United States for awhile now. Instead of trying to understand their position, some people are retaliating and even going as far as booing at them during the anthem. I do not believe that that is productive in any way when trying to fix the issue. As a country, we need to try to understand why some people feel like there is social or racial inequality and work together to begin getting rid of this
A controversial topic currently circulating throughout the media and society, is professional athletes kneeling during the National Anthem. In my opinion, this is a completely useless, unnecessary action done just for attention. The theory behind the action is supposed to represent unity. Unity is not achieved by causing controversy, but it’s achieved by coming together and supporting each other when times get tough.
David Waldstreicher, an American historian, has claimed that the American Constitution is a ‘”pro-slavery’” document in his article published in 2015. In Waldstreicher's article and Sean Wilentz article also published in 2015 they both state that the Constitution refused to mention slavery as property and according to Abraham Lincoln in Wilentz’s article “Lincoln asserted that the framers had operated ‘on purpose to exclude from the Constitution the idea that there could be property in man’”. The American Constitution is a pro-slavery document that even though not wholly stating components within it that would entirely abolish slavery, but it also would not say that humans cannot be determined property. The U.S. Constitution is a pro-slavery
Kidblog Hey Brett if I was alive during the Revolutionary War days I would want to be a Patriot because you get to protect our country. Patriots never really had to worry about having a place to live because no matter what their was always someone that had a house that you could live with. No matter what U.S citizens always wanted to protect the Patriots.
Her portrayal conveyed an immensity within the lyrics. While listening to Holiday’s version I was unfortunately unpleased given the slow tempo presented. However, the version portrayed was beautiful and full of emotion, but it was just too leisurely for my
The First Amendment in 1989 of Texas was to protect the right from any of protesters to burn the American Flag will probably go to jail for the rest of their lives for any charges or maybe go to court for making a cruel violence. In this purpose, for some people say that if you burn the American Flag a person is against the country that they have rejected on. And some that are against on people who burn the American Flag say that the flag represents the men who died going to war when they were from the United States. It was the freedom of speech.
Most songs are designed to entertain, however, they also communicate a certain message that the rhetor(s) intend to share with an audience. Songs can defy societal norms and provide a new perception of a problem in our culture. Dr. Funnell uses Beyoncé’s song, Flawless, as a prime example in her “broad based discussions about the women, the industries, and the messages in popular culture that are being presented to our society and what effects they have”. So when she uses
The flag represents freedom and justice and those who are being oppressed feel as though these certain rights are being taken away and that is why it is okay for someone to kneel during the National Anthem. While many people believe that kneeling during the National Anthem is wrong and is disrespectful to the country’s ideals, what many Americans do not realize is that if they look past their beliefs and try
Kneeling during the national anthem is a form of peacefully protesting instead of choosing to stay silent and not have a voice. Former NFL player Colin Kaepernick who is currently a free agent brought the attention to “kneeling during the national anthem” when he decided to take a knee during a preseason game. Him kneeling brought an uproar of people who believed he was being “disrespectful” and “unpatriotic”, others believed he was being “brave” and a “hero”. Kaepernick had a reason for doing so, he was standing up for social justice and police brutality again African Americans. Significance of The Flag
Players sitting during the national anthem is a topic that is well debated throughout the country today there are many people who believe that players should be punished and there are those who agree and support this idea of sitting during the national anthem. Christopher J. Scalia believes that people who sit during the national anthem should just quit playing for national teams not because he doesn’t agree that there needs to be a change in the community but because there are other ways to raise awareness for racial discrimination than sitting during the anthem, and disrespecting the United States of America. Christopher sees that it is happening in more than one sport in the world including football and soccer. While Roger Goodell disagrees
Neither John, Gwen, nor Miguel began taking drugs with the intention of harming others. Nor were they aggressive or abusive in nature. Yet their long-term substance abuse harmed others, including family members, friends, and the communities in which they lived. John’s substance abuse had negative consequences for his family and his community. While John was still in school, he picked up several bad habits that were smoking marijuana, drinking, and later methamphetamine.
