1. Personally, I believe the constitution was the better document because it had more power. The articles of confederation gave the states more power than congress had, and because of this states either did was it said or did not. Because of the states having more power over Congress, the states did not focus on the needs of the whole country but only cared for their own state and what is best for their people. The constitution is better because it was easier to make changes and amendments to it. For the articles, it needed 9 out of the 13 states to agree to the amendment which rarely happened and because of this the articles were seen as ineffective because of its and the congress’ lack of power over the individual states. I think the hardest part of being the first president would be to have the ability to be a good example and try to be impersonal. The president would have to be impersonal because if Washington only did things that benefited him or his fellow wealthy farmers then he would be seen as greedy. The president should be seen as someone understands that “the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few” to quote James T. Kirk from Star Trek, which shows the perfect example of a great president. By being a good example, Washington shows what a good outline of a president is, instead of becoming like the British is being too overpowered; he would work with his fellow branches of government and come to an agreement on all decisions that would affect the future of the country. If the president did his best to present new laws and rules that would help the country grow and improve, instead of just helping the wealthy. For example, If George Washington, as the 1st president decided to abolish slavery in every country except Virginia then he would be seen as acting in his own interests and not what’s best for the rest of the country.
