This creates a situation that allows police officers discretion in the way they think about what they see and how they handle those with whom they come in contact. There has been an effort by the research community to examine issues concerning how police act and respond in general and what police do specifically when they interact with citizens. A conspicuous void in the research effort has been the lack of attention paid to the process by which police officers form suspicion about a suspect whether or not a formal intervention such as a stop was made. Officers in Savannah, Georgia were observed and debriefed after they became suspicious about an individual or vehicle. Observers accompanied officers on 132, 8-hour shifts, during
Police pursuits begin from a variety of different reasons. Being caught in between one can be extremely dangerous. There are pros and cons regarding whether high-speed chases are necessary. Police pursuits involve a stop for a traffic violation and one person dies everyday as a result of a police pursuit. Some pros on police pursuits are that it immediate ID of suspects and apprehension.
News reporters and media outlets frequently paint a picture that portrays the decrease in crime due to an increase in stop-and-frisk procedures. According to Evans and Williams (2015), those who agree with stop-and-frisk feel that this policy helps police officers to prevent crime from occurring. Many believe that it is drastically decreasing the amount of illegal firearms, therefore making cities safer. However, this is not the case as many often perceive it. According to the New York Civil Liberties Union (2012), on average less than one of every 800 stop-and-frisk scenarios resulted in the confiscation of a firearm.
Body Cameras on Police Officers There are pro and cons to police officers wearing body cameras. In light of all the recent killings caused by the law, concern of the safety of both the authority figures and the public have caused the issue of there being a mandatory law that officers should have to wear body cameras at all time and make sure they are turned on whenever they are to interact with the public. Most recently there has been a plethora of killings of unarmed young minorities just for the simple reasoning that they looked "suspicious" or "they seemed like they were up to no good". The reason many states would like to put the law that every officer should be mandated to wear body cameras into place will be for the purpose of being able to record any interaction that an officer has with a person of the public.
The act of “Stop and Frisk” began in the early 1900’s when crime rates began to escalate in major cities such as New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia. Stop, question, and frisk, or SQF, is an urban policing measure that involves the large-scale deployment of officers in public spaces (e.g., sidewalks, alleys, the communal outdoor spaces of public housing) tasked with conducting frequent investigative stops (Huq, A. Z. (2017). In the articles provided, it is questioned whether New York’s stop and frisk policy is constitutional or not. I agree with the court's ruling, I believe Judge Scheindlin seemed too involved. “Judge Shira A. Scheindlin, the appeals court said, jeopardized "the appearance of partiality ... by a series of media interviews and public statements purporting to respond publicly to criticism of the District Court”
Even though the Stop and Frisk program was a highly controversial law, a revised version of it should be implemented in every major city that suffers from high crime rates. The majority of people wanted the program to continue because it worked very well in NYC and It drastically reduced the number of murders and major crime in the city. First, In this essay, I will elaborate on what I mean by “a revised version” of the Stop and Frisk program, address the arguments made against the law, and then show you my argument for the program and the good it brought to the city of NYC and the good it can bring to other cities in America. First off, what was the Stop and Frisk program? The Stop and Frisk program is the practice of detaining, questioning
NYPD has engaged in a practice known as “Stop and Frisk”. This policy allows officers, based on reasonable suspicion that criminal activity is afoot, to engage in investigatory stops and to conduct a pat down of the outer clothing of the individual if there is reasonable suspicion that the suspect is armed” (Simmons, 2014). A stop can take place with an individual that an officer considers reasonable to search based upon speculation of an encounter. For example an officer pulls over a young black man and request for his driver license and registration. The young man complies but the officer begins to speculate and assume he is carrying either illegal drugs or a concealed weapon.
Each new program instituted to combat crimes comes with some controversy and its opponents. None has come under as much scrutiny as New York’s almost notorious Stop and Frick policy. Introduced as an approach to lever crime in The Big Apply, it has been scrutinized by what is being characterized as unconstitutional practice. Created under Mayor Michael Bloomberg, it has been credited at curbing crime and a fundamental tool in effective policing. Conversely, critics have pointed to the policy as being ineffective, racially driven and in clear violation of a person’s civil liberties.
Many people suggest that body cameras on police officers are effective in a robust way, but that is not always the case. Police body cameras cause multiple issues not only for the public, but for the officers themselves as well. The negative outcomes out these cameras being put to use on officers outweigh the positives. Many more problems occur when officers using this equipment.

Racial profiling has become a national issue starting in 2015 (“Racial”). Judging someone for their race has been a problem ever since a minority group has been noticed. Racial profiling has spread over all over the world. Racial profiling has been a problem through the years, if the human race can learn what racial profiling is, advantages of the profiling, and the disadvantages.
Medical Research has the potential to advance society and make life better for everyone in it. However, the ends cannot justify the means; the rights of the subjects of research cannot be violated no matter the possible benefit to mankind. Despite this, time and time again, it has been very easy for, at least allegedly well-meaning scientists to violate the rights of their research subjects because they wanted to help society as a whole. Such experiments were not performed in secret by a minority of scientists; they were often done “by respected investigators at leading medical institutions and were published in medical journals (Scandals and Tragedies 3). " It is vital that we understand the circumstances of these experiments and why they happened so
