Has technology robbed humans their ability to socialise or their potential to be creative and to think critically? Or is it the case where technology triggers the synapses in the right hemisphere of the brain which is responsible for creativity? Living in the 21st century, we are blessed with technologies that made life easier and bearable. Inventions such as smartphones, laptops and tablets play an important role in our lives. However, our dependence on technology has, undeniably affected creativity and communication. It can be a boon or a bane depending on how one uses it.
One can’t deny that with the mushrooming of technology, people are getting less interactive. Look around you. Do you see strangers interacting with each other? No. Instead, their head are buried deep in their gadgets. ‘Phubbing’ has become a worrying phenomenon lately. According to Oxford Dictionary, phubbing is the practice of ignoring one 's companion or companions in order to pay attention to one 's phone or other mobile device. Not only we lose our pals, our communication skill is also affected. Phubbing also takes a toll on our relationship with our family members. For instance, family gathering should be a joyful event where relatives gather and chat. Sadly, instead of joining the chat, almost every millennials are literally glued to their gadgets.
