Texting and driving, sexting and cheating are all dangers of cell phone misuses. The first way cell phones can be misused is texting while driving. According to the AAA Foundation for T.S., “An average of one in five drivers admits to texting while driving (Gardener 1). This means that more than twenty percent of drivers are distracted. Considering the damage a car driven 50mph by a driver could cause, this statistic is frightening. Furthermore, texting drivers are twenty three point two percent more likely to be involved in a “crash or near crash” (Gardner 1). Eight but of every ten students admit to engaging some form of cheating in their collegiate courses (Gabriel, 2010, McCabe, Butterfield + Trevino, 2006). This means that students have cheated on either homework, quizzes or tests so that they can get the grade they want. By doing this, they are only hurting themselves because by cheating, their not learning anything. Researchers have found that academic dishonesty was associated with a student’s lower ratings of satisfaction with their familial relationships (Madill, Gaia, Qualls 2007). This means that it is more likely a student will cheat because of family issues at home. Parents do not realize how much their relationships with their children is important throughout a child’s life. For the last piece of evidence, the most common type of academic dishonesty reported was allowing other students to copy answers on quizzes or examinations with thirty five percent of the sample reporting that they had allowed fellow students to copy answers. This means that thirty five percent of students admit to letting other people copy their answers, either for money of because their good friends. When people let other people copy their answers, sometimes word gets out and then a bunch of students would ask that one person who gave their answers to that first student, to give their answers to them. Because of this, that person who started giving their answers away could get caught and then could be the only person getting in trouble for all of
