Civil War In the year of 1861, on April 12th, a tremendous war broke out between the north and the south. While both sides fought the Civil War over the issue of slavery, the North fought for moral reasons and the South fought to preserve its current beliefs and policies. It all started when George Washington was elected to be president. Once that came about, many people started to move to the south because of the war. The people around had realized that the norths army was not ready to go to war. The north didn’t have a very strong army, they weren’t even prepared for the war that they were getting into. “Even Minnesota witnessed a frenzy of killing in 1862. (Hughes 123). After the war was eventually over, African American slaves were able to start going to school and get somewhat of an education at “the American Missionary Association established the Fisk School in Nashville Tennessee, to educate former slaves. Two years later it was chartered as Fisk University.” (Hughes 92). Many people like to go back and reflect on this war since it was the deadliest war yet to happen in forever. All the weaponry that were used in this war were extremely outrageous. Weapons like the 24-pounder cannon, .52 caliber, and the .36 caliber were the top most dangerous guns used in this war.
