Introduction:
Should Japan cease all whaling activity? They are one the most active in their whaling activity. Some reasons are reasonable because they have claim that they are for scientific reasons but are all the whales being fished from the sea and killed all are for research. Decrease in population of whales can make the ecosystem imbalanced and can affect the other species in the ocean. Whales are special animals, they’re highly intelligent and share some human-like patterns that are complex, but their population are under endangered because of the active whaling. Should japan be allowed to continue whaling or should they stop.

Phytoplankton are then consumed by the first order consumers and the chain continues on as the first order consumers are then eaten by second order consumer to where the second order consumer become the prey of the third order consumers. The producers and consumers are the both broken down by decomposers and the matter is cycled by decomposing into nutrients for plants. Energy flow of the marine ecosystem starts through phytoplankton and is transferred to the animals who eats …show more content…
Whale eating is a tradition that even occur in earliest history, dating back to 10,000 B.C, therefore there is no right to stopping a tradition that was started long ago. Whale meat is also significant to Japan’s culture because it kept the people of Japan fed during and even after the hard time of World War 2. It is an old Japanese tradition that should not be allowed to be criticised as it is people’s food culture. (Animal Planet, n.d) It is hypocritical to deny Japan from killing an animal where considering killing other animals such as kangaroos and baby cattle are okay. (Philpott, 2015) Eating whale meat isn’t for healthy or nutritional reasons, but it’s just that Japan wants to continue the country’s tradition. Japan has also stated that Minke whales have a population of 761,000 that exist in the Southern Ocean, which means that it is sustainable for commercial whaling with the support of strict management stock and annual catching limitation.
