Director, writer, and producer, Gabriella Cowperthwaite, in her documentary, Blackfish, describes the shameless hunting and treatment of killer whales. Cowperthwaite’s purpose is to persuade us into opening our eyes to the reality of what we are doing to killer whales by confining them in captivity. She invents an emotionally wrenching tone in order to transmit to the adult viewers that living in captivity may not be acceptable life for the whales. The film effectively showed that the whales should not be kept in captivity by giving the audience examples of their signs of aggression and displays of emotion. Cowperthwaite begins her documentary by showing how killer whales can become barbaric when held captive.
The Killer Whales should be in small tanks, if an animal in captivity then is should have space to roam around and run. Parents should be able to take their kids to zoos and see healthy animals behaving

Ever since wild animals such as Killer Whales have been captured and kept in theme parks and zoos as amusement, there have been issues on whether they should or shouldn’t be kept in captivity. Killer Whales, otherwise commonly referred to as Orcas, have regularly been taken away from the sea at a very young age so they can be trained, raised and kept in theme parks for exhibition. Although theme parks no longer capture whales from the wild, they are still bred in captivity for public display at marine parks such as Sea World (Gorman).
Deer, turkey, moose, rabbit, skunk raccoon, swan, and duck. What do all of these have in common? They are all animals, but more importantly, they were all hunted in colonial times. Today I will show you hunting in colonial times. We are going to look at this in a couple different ways.

It starts in the beginning from where and how whales were captured to be put into sea-parks, and even follows the whales on their journeys. For example, the film mainly focuses on a giant whale named Tilikum and where he started, his events, where he moved, to and where he was last when the film was made. It also starts with the first sea-parks and how they grew into bigger ones.
The reading passage argues that the sea cow extinct in 1768 and provides three possible theories for their extinction. However, the professor explains that true cause of extinction is still unknown and there are problems with the argument by the passage and he repudiates each of the author 's reasons. At first, the reading passage posits that over-hunting of native people for food in that period is the primary reason for the extinction of sea cow. In contrast, the lecturer refutes this ratiocination by imparting that sea cow was an enormous animal with 9-meter length and about 10 tons weight. A small sea cow would be sufficient for the survival of the natives for months and they did not need to hunt a lot of these animals for food.

The only whales that should be kept in captivity are injured whales; whales that would never make it on their own. There are some rare instances when they need humans to survive. “Springer was an immature and sickly killer whale who lost her pod in 2002 and began to associate with humans in Puget Sound near Vancouver” (“What to do about a killer whale”). Springer was “nursed back to health and returned to the wild quickly” (“What to do about a killer whale”). If a whale needs help, then humans should do everything they can to get them healthy again and nothing more.
This quote shows the dangers of whaling because it is common for men to be injured at sea. Whales are enormous creatures whos instinct is to fight for their lives if they are in danger, leading them to cause destruction on ships and kill the men who hunt them. Once the whale is dead, the task of bringing the whale towards the ship is even harder. The crew works six hour shifts until the body is processed, taking days to finish depending on weather or size of whale. “Trying out a whale could take as long as three days.

There were many instances where the killer whale has been misunderstood based on the weighed out factors of said instances. Stated by an article titled “Killer Whales: A Reputation Deserved?”, in Victoria, Canada 1991 at Sealand, a woman fell into the killer whale pool and was repeatedly tossed around until she drowned. When the killer whales tossed her around it was not their intention to kill her they were only playing. In Orlando, Florida yet another event occurred producing the same results, although the common fact remains killer whales were in captivity when these human being were killed. The whales most likely thought these women were fish not people.
The Norwegian and Japanese positions and arguments to be permitted with the hunting of non-endangered species of whales as a cultural exemption should not be considered. According to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation, “the whaling industry is in decline and the demand for meat is falling” (WDC, n.d.). Given this statement, I would support the ban of whaling worldwide. In addition, it would be difficult and costly to monitor the whaling activity that is taking place in waters where whales frequent.
The interactions between humans and dolphins started centuries ago when our ancestors carved drawings of cetaceans on rocks and passed on legends and folk tales; some described them as beasts and others as spiritual creatures. These marine mammals are also hunted as long as three thousand years ago as resources: their meat for food; their blubber for oil, and their teeth and bones for clothes, jewelry, or tools (Bauer, McCafferty, Simmonds, & Wright, 2013, p.201). As time pass, dolphin and whale hunting became a more prominent and structured industry, and the knowledge about these marine mammals’ biology and behaviors grew. In recent decades, with the help of ample media exposure and scientific publications, the public shifted its attitude
