In Dragonwings, Windrider is described as a practical person and idealistic person. He is idealistic because he dreamed of becoming a dragon again and he is practical by taking steps to become a dragon. Being practical means taking step by step or little by little to achieve a goal of some kind and being idealistic means dreaming big. It is more valuable to be practical rather than idealistic because by being practical, people can achieve their goals rather than simply dreaming about it. Being practical is better than being idealistic because little by little someone can finish a goal. In “Community Hero” by Susannah Abby sec 11 says “The campaign was not an easy one. There had never been a woman leader of a Native American tribe.” Later, the Author states that “In the end, Mankiller had her day: she was elected as first woman Deputy Chief, and over time her wise, strong leadership vindicated her supporters and proved her detractors wrong.” This supports the argument for being practical because little by little Wilma helps the community by building schools and adult hangout centers. In “Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost on Sec 1 says “Two roads were diverged in a yellow wood and “Sorry if I could not travel both” The traveler choosing a road step by step, practical approach. In “Dragonwings” by Laurence Yep pg{201} Ms.Whitlaw said“We have to get all the people out” by this they can help get the people out. Being idealistic is a good thing but being idealistic can't help people get off the debris. So being practical is better because Ms.Whitlaw can go step by step to get the people out of the debris.
