Pros And Cons Of Keeping Animals In Captivity

Imagine how you would feel if you were taken from your family and your home, moved to a completely new climate, and forced into a small enclosure with no room to run, and nothing to do other than walk in circles as people stare, laugh and take pictures of you. You would never be free again, and you would die surrounded by concrete walls, lonely and sad. This is what zoos are doing to thousands of animals around the world, locking them up into captivity and using them for our entertainment, and it needs to end. I think zoos need to be banned, and that it should be illegal to take wild animals into captivity.

The first issue that I have with zoos is the fact that these animals are kept very far away from their natural climate and habitat. For example, the Magnetic Hill Zoo in Moncton has lions, monkeys and other exotic species that are used to a warm desert or tropical climate, which is definitely not present in New Brunswick, therefore the animals would have to attempt to adapt to a new climate as well as a new home and they would be suffering in the cold during the winter, even if the zoo takes extra precautions to keep their animals warm and safe in the winter, the warmest and safest place for them would be in their natural habitat. Zoos are evil places that care more about making money than they do about being fair to animals. I think that there should be a law passed saying that no new animals are allowed to be taken into captivity, because even if we cannot save the animals who are stuck in zoos right now, we will be able to help future generations of their species not to be locked up and exploited for human entertainment. I think that passing a law like this would solve a big issue in our world, and might put us one step closer to having peace in the world
