The international community denounced Gaddafi’s regime for committing genocide by his armed forces against his own people. It was a very controversial approach, which the United Nations gave permission to the NATO to intervene in Libya as the United Nations felt that Gaddafi’s government is not legitimate anymore and he deliberately killing his own people to stay in power. NATO intervened in Libya without host nation’s consent, which they believed that Gaddafi disobeyed the second stage of responsibly to protect doctrine and it was the time for international community to intervene in Libya. Based on the conflict resolution school of thought, intervention over states could happen when the governments commit of those four crimes, but the legality of the intervention is so important to decide whether intervention is the last resort because conflict resolution does not support any war or more destruction whether it is non-state actor or government commits any crime ( Berman & Michaelsen, 2012, p. …show more content…

International community claimed that Gaddafi is killing innocent civilians, but did not mention in what extend. In other words, who justified whether Gaddafi was deliberately killing every civilians or those only who were against his regime to be annihilated with military power. Gaddafi is not alive anymore, but the whole Libya is in bloodshed right after intervention happened. I agree that Gaddafi should have step down eventually, since no one wants to live under a dictator for so long time. The international community’s intervention in Libya did not bring more stability, instead, it massively destroyed everything which will take so many years to recover ( Glanville, 2013, pp. 332-333). Besides that, intervening in Libya also created so many ethnic cleansing within the state and neighboring countries such as Mali, Sudan, and Syria and that is so shocking that if terrorist activities keep happening in the region, it will bring more chaos in the long run (Ramsbotham, Woodhouse, and Maill, 2016, p.
