Protestant Religion in the United States
It has been over four centuries since the beginning of the Protestant religion took place in America. Martin Luther was angry with the Catholic Church and want to get away from the restrictions and false beliefs planted inside many mines started to define his own, new religion of Protestantism. Martin Luther believed the real way to find God, was the soul of the person. So, a new religion was brought to the world, inspiring many people to question their beliefs and morals.

Today, as we come upon the 21st century, Protestantism is a very powerful belief, that has made its mark upon society. The common beliefs that were started as the foundation of Protestants are still in our society today. Protestant is a term which applies to a large number of Christian groups. There are over 240 groups that can be identified as such. These groups do not accept the authority of the popes of Roman Catholicism or the patriarchs of Orthodox Christianity. For most Protestants, the symbol of faith is the empty cross instead of the crucifix. Protestant group believe that life is to be lived as an expression of gratitude for God’s love as revealed to them in Jesus. Protestant groups include persons from many ethnic, racial and cultural backgrounds. Ceremonies and celebrations are held at times of birth, confirmation or coming of age, marriage, and death according to the individual’s culture and family tradition more than according to the religious group. The holidays and seasons are observed with different degrees of beliefs. There are no requirements of members during these times, but there may be individual preferences. There are no specific Protestant prohibitions or requirements to food preferences or restrictions of diet, individual preferences may vary, especially regarding consumption of caffeine, meat, and
