Today, the world has become more dependent on visuals for communication and as well as entertainment. A great amount of technologies are utilized in order to create visualizations and illustrations for various purposes. Technologies are rapidly innovating within the field of IT as they greatly affect almost every other fields of profession. On that account, within the field of graphic art and media, several careers fulfill the needs of communicating and entertaining, such as animation, graphic design, and photography, as they implement the use of various technologies. Based on the matrix chart, all six criteria have the total weight of 100%; with salary weighting the highest, 30%, and upward mobility weighting the lowest, 10%. Situated in all careers, salary is an important factor in any career, therefore it received the most percentage. Though benefits, equal opportunity, meaningful, and creativity are all important, they are weighted equally, by 15%, as they do not have as much impact as salary. In reference to chart 1, animation has the highest weighted score for salary and the lowest weighted for upward mobility. As salary has the highest percentage, it has a rating of 85 and weighted score of 25.5 for this path as animators generate about “$30.76 hourly, $63,970 annual” (National Center for O*NET Development, 27-1014.00 - Multimedia Artists and Animators, n.d.). Similarly, graphic design has the same highest weighted score as animation as graphic designers generate about “$43,500; $20.92/hr” (Graphic Design Careers | Salary | Information | Education, n.d.).
