Walt Disney is one of the most well-known names in the film industry. The company he built continues to make millions and take home Academy Awards more than fifty years after his death. How did Disney become so successful? While he was a hard worker, there were several hidden factors and special opportunities that made him so prosperous.
“When we was coming down I looked through one of them windows. I saw the other part of the plane. There were flames coming out of it”(Golding 8). Rex Walls and Walt Disney had similar parenting tactics. Rex Walls did not believe in “babying” his children. “I didn't treat my own youngsters like fragile flowers, and I think no parent should,” explains Disney. Comparative Critique The topic of gender equality, culture and environmental effects on girls and young women has brought up the discussion of princess culture - dressing up, waiting for prince charming, the importance of beauty. Both “The Princess Paradox” and “Cinderella and Princess Culture” examine how companies such as Disney are responsible for girls falling into princess culture and influencing them. However, there are distinct parallels between Orenstein and Poniewozik on how they perceive the effects of cinematic influence. Orenstein insinuates that Disney’s princess culture bears a negative impact on the mental health of young girls whereas, Poniewozik disputes that princess culture is a gateway to female empowerment.

The main character that is presented is shown to be taken away from childhood, moving to become a brilliant military strategist in a prestigious academy known as Battle School. They go on to go through the path of high-stakes battles and self-discovery. The overall story explores the theme of complex leadership as well as the cost of sacrifice for the benefit of the greater good.
In the novel Belle, by Beverly Jenkins, it’s very interesting because it gives the readers the first point view of a sixteen year old girl who escaped slavery in Kentucky and travels to Michigan on the Underground Railroad during the Civil War. Belle Palmer is the name of the main character of the story, and her story is how she is trying to find her missing father while trying to figure out her feeling for the handsome and intelligent Daniel Best, who is engaged but isn’t sure if he’s in love his betrothed or not. In my opinion this book is good, but it’s lacking the the development of a teen romance and how they feel towards each other, while dodging the obstacle of Daniel’s parents as well as his cheating betrothed finding out. For the character
Many people believe Disney princesses can alter a child’s perspective about his or her self. The way princesses act and what they wear both affect children’s state of mind. The essay “Girls on Film: The Real Problem with the Disney Princess Brand” by Monika Bartyzel claims that the image of Disney princesses changes the way both children and society feel about women.

The movie Shutter Island is overwhelmingly filled with themes of mental health. Before moving into the content of this paper I would like to disclose this movie contains a false and melodramatic portrayal of mental illness, this is not an accurate representation of the field. The movie begins with Federal Marshal Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his new partner traveling to a secluded island containing a mental facility for the criminally insane. They are supposedly there to investigate a missing patient, however, throughout the movie we see clips with signs and symptoms that point to Teddy’s own diagnosis of a mental disorder. That maybe Teddy isn’t exactly on the island for an investigation but has his own hidden secrets to uncover.
