There were many opportunities for me to come up with create research ideas of my own. For example, our naturalistic observation and survey assignments were two projects which allowed me to pick my own research ideas, encouraging creativity. that you were not aware of at the beginning of the course? (cite) At the beginning of this course I was not aware of the different types of ANOVA’s. In this course I learned about 2 ANOVA’S: completely randomized ANOVA and repeated-measures ANOVA. The completely randomized ANOVA is a one way ANOVA that used independent groups of participants while repeated-measures ANOVA, also a one way ANOVA, uses correlated groups of participants (Smith & Davis, 2013, pg. 248). Please demonstrate an understanding of research methodologies used in the scientific study of human behavior (cite and give examples). Qualitative research is a research method that is “conducted in a natural setting that seeks to understand a complex human behavior by developing a complete narrative description of that behavior” (Smith & Davis, 2013, pg. 52). This project enabled me to gain insight and truly understand the military experience of a close family member. After I conducted the interview, this former military personnel explained that our exchange was therapeutic for them as they were never presented with an opportunity to reflect and discussed their experience of serving in the military. This assignment was of great personal value because it brought me and this family member closer which I am appreciative
