“PTSD can affect people who personally experience the traumatic event, those who witness the event, or those who even pick up the pieces afterwards” (“Post-Traumatic Stress “PTSD Treatment.(PTSD)”). PTSD which stands for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a disease that happens after experiencing or going through a traumatizing event and holding onto it. After recognizing the main causes of PTSD, what it is, where PTSD comes from, and the treatment options for PTSD individuals can better understand PTSD in society.

The biggest part is knowing what PTSD is and to truly understand it. PTSD is a serious medical condition that affects numerous people. PTSD is typically proven to affect older people more than younger people but alternatively it doesn't matter on age it affects people of all ages just depending on what the situation is (“Causes of PTSD”). PTSD is a disorder in which one can not or is not able to do something and needs help recovering or coping from the event or a certain time in their life (DerSarkissian). The biggest effect is revolving nightmares and flashbacks from the event or time in life that something happened. PTSD can also lead to feelings of isolation, irritability, and guilt and even worse negative thoughts (“Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)”). It can make a person's health struggle especially if they are already fighting another mental or physical health problem (“Causes of PTSD”). The biggest effect PTSD can have on a person is their lifestyle and how they live because most people don't know how to live to cope with the feelings and effects that PTSD has (“Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)”).
