After 10 years working as a registered nurse in many aspects of healthcare, felt an overwhelming desire to advance my career and myself to expand my role in caring for others. Becoming a nurse practitioner has always been a goal of mine. During my time working as a nursing manager, I became acutely aware of the need of skilled and talented providers that desire to provide passionate care to all individuals. I became especially concerned with the needs those with limited access to healthcare services. I knew my desire to care for individuals in a more autonomous role and I set out to develop the skills needed to meet the need I witnessed.

My decision to begin graduate coursework in Public Health was motivated by my suffering from a rare health condition during my time at Villanova, only to be further reinforced by a medical volunteer trip to Ghana, Africa. The field
It is a great honor to have the chance to apply to be a member of NHS. Although my academic achievements are the reason why I have the opportunity to apply, my demonstration of the pillar of scholarship isn’t the only reason why I would be a good candidate for NHS. Because I exemplify all four pillars of the National Honor Society: scholarship, leadership, character, and service, I believe that I would be a good candidate for NHS. Many activities that I have done in the past, and still do today, have given me opportunities to demonstrate my leadership skills.

The skills that I have includes an ability to always put patients first in everything I do whilst providing safe, effective and appropriate treatment and care. I am someone who will always follow my training while adhering to the NHS working practices and operational procedures. A career as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is a natural extension of my personal, educational, and research experiences. Although my path to nursing has not been a straight line, every experience that put me on this path has shaped my passion and dedication to psychiatric nursing. After losing loved ones to suicide at a young age, I made a promise to myself and to them that I would dedicate my life to helping individuals struggling with mental illness. This promise led me to study Psychology at UC Berkeley, where I fell in love with clinical research investigating the efficacy of treatments for mental illness.
After I graduate from with an MPH I plan to be certified as a public health professional and I aspire to work for organizations such as Center of Disease Control, World Health Organization, and United States Agency for International Development. As public health graduates I get a lot of knowledge in various fields. I learned about social fields such as demography, sociology, and anthropology and health field such as the transmission of the disease, health and environment. Continue in linear direction you will make the science that I can be more developed and believable. The skills that I have like statistics data analyzing, the expertise of administering health promotion and how to manage health and epidemiology investigations will be even better. Consideration of knowledge and expertise and also the lack of willingness of departments at universities in Indonesia and lack of literature directed me majored in Global Health to learn in the UK.

Health and social care is something that I have always been passionate about. Because I have studied health and social care for the last four years I have regularly met a lot of the most vulnerable members of society through past work experiences. Through past placements I have worked with children who have special needs. This helped me develop ways of communicating with the children this could be through sign language. Because my Aunt is deaf I have taught myself basic sign language in order to communicate with her effectively.
I have always wanted to pursue a career related to the medical field, and it wasn't until my freshman year of college that I encountered the area of public health. I was immediately drawn to the specific area of epidemiology and infectious diseases. I am now a junior at the University of Texas majoring in Public Health with a concentration in microbiology and infectious diseases. I find epidemiology so enthralling, as it is implements ways in which we can scientifically and statistically describe diseases and the mortality/morbidity as well as predict how and why they spread. More so, I think the infectious disease aspect is interesting as well, because while the United States has shifted from burden of infectious disease to that of chronic
