This literature review is separated into three main parts by the discussion themes that are examined in the included studies. The literature on the theme on construction of the gender roles through analyzing stereotypes about women drivers generally designed as the quantitative studies that tend to generalize the data on the subject. Nevertheless, there are several qualitative studies as well that provide comprehensive qualitative analysis of the gender stereotypes and driving experience by including social context. According to Berger, stereotype about female drivers can be linked to beliefs that women unable to handle stressful situations that require making of rapid decisions. This kind of situation occurs, Berger proposes, because of their emotional sensitivity, which make them poor drivers.
