Football is like a puzzle. You have to put people in the right place in order to get a product that’s going to turn out the right way. Everyone is like a piece, if you don’t have them or they aren’t fitting the right way, than your puzzle is incomplete. Quarterback’s have to solve these puzzles and put people in the right places in order to be successful. They have to be able to read defenses and make the right adjustments, know every play and what every player is doing, and make good decisions under pressure. The better they do these things, the more successful their team will be. The NFL is a perfect place to see these things come to life. The team with the better quarterback more than likely comes down with a victory when three zeroes are on the clock. The best quarterback in the NFL today is Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers. He is the perfect example of what it takes to be successful at the quarterback position. Under pressure he is exceptionally mobile and doesn’t throw any easy interceptions. When he comes to the line, he has the vision that is necessary to pick apart a defense and find holes for his receivers to run. A strong quarterback who makes few mistakes throughout a game is Alex Smith of the Kansas City Chiefs. When compared to Rodgers, Smith simply does not compare because of his arm strength and decisions under pressure. Alex Smith struggles with the ability to throw the ball downfield accurately to help his receivers make a play in the open field. When pressured, Smith has good speed and mobility, but doesn’t use it in the way most effective. in 2014, Smith was sacked 45 times; almost double the amount Rodgers was hit in the pocket. Smith shows the capability to make plays and read defenses, just not as well to be considered the number one quarterback in the
