The White Oak or the Quercus Alba is a very important to the ecosystem. Multiple animal species eat or use the tree to help them survive. We use the tree to make furniture, floors, ships, etc. Many animals of all walks of life use the White Oak as a viable source of food. These animals use every bit the tree has to offer. Young shoots of White Oak trees are eaten by deer. The dried leaves that drop from this tree also are eaten by deer. Rabbits use the trees twigs for their nutrients. Beavers also eat the twigs of the Quercus Alba. Porcupines eat the bark of the White Oak. Acorns are the most important part of the food on the White Oak. They provide food for the Grey Squirrel which doesn’t necessarily prefer the White Oak acorns, but will eat them anyways. Along with the squirrel many birds also eat the acorns. Some of these birds are the bluejay, wild turkey, northern bobwhite, ring-necked pheasant, greater prairie chicken, mallard, and ruffed grouse. Some other species that use the White Oak acorns for food are the white-footed mouse, fox squirrel, black bear, pine mouse, red squirrel, and cottontail rabbits. The Quercus Alba is a great source of food for many animals and will continue to do so for many years to come.

It is strong, heavy, and durable. Because of this, this Oak tree is very useful for building. Some of the products that are made from the White Oak trees are furniture, flooring, paneling, and veneer. Theses are all very important pieces of every home.
