In the play A Midsummer Night’s Dream, had Titania given the Indian child to Oberon the first time he asked, the play would be different in many ways. It would be different because Bottom wouldn’t have been turned into an ass, nor the flower would’ve been put it Titania’s eyes. When Puck is in the forest and sneaks up on the people doing the play, he says,” What a play toward? I’ll be an auditor/ An actor too, perhaps, if I see cause”( 3.1 65-66). This quote explains explains to us that Puck shall “act” in the play that is held near where the queen is sleeping. His next action of turning Bottom into an ass affects the rest of the story and how the story would go it he didn’t do it in the first place. This quote proves that the reason for Oberon’s revenge was Titania refusing to give him the child. If she would’ve given him the child in the first place, this revenge would’ve never taken place. This quote also tells us that the flower was put into Titania’s eyes and, she would love the next animal or thing in sight.
