The Maze Runner
In the novel, The Maze runner, by James Dashner, many characters encounter similar problems. Thomas, the main character's problems start since he gets out of the box and until the end of the novel. While trying to escape the Glade, he reveals his curiosity, bravery, and self-confidence.
Since Thomas is trapped in the Glade, he reveals his first character trait, curiosity, by finding out what has been terrifying everyone and learning everything about the maze, located in the Glade. He wants to predict and find out what is in the maze. Thomas always wants to figure out what is beyond the scary walls that is very fearful, ferocious, and nerve-racking, that is petrifying and murdering everyone. He wants to learn everything

This quote here shows how Thomas is anxious of going into the maze and trying to solve it, “He moved forward, he squeezed past the connecting rods, and at the last second he stepped into the maze. The walls slammed behind him and the adventure began”(Dashner James, 75). Thomas, not fearing the deadly maze steps into it to solve it and help others escape. Minho says, “‘Just follow me like your life depended on it, because it does”’.(Dashner James, 110). Thomas doesn’t have any terror towards the maze and will do anything to solve it, even if his life depended on it. His third character trait is revealed, having self-confidence, by believing in himself and knowing that he can find clues and finish the maze. He does not care about the negative attitude people have towards him. Thomas says, “‘Gonna save us all!, Gonna save us all from the flare and don’t believe a word they tell ya”’(Dashner James, 362). Thomas is a positive character who has a lot of faith in himself and knows that he is the one that will find the clues and solve the maze to prove the others wrong who don't believe a word he tells them. Gally says, “‘You are the shuckiest shuck-faced shuck in the world!”’(Dashner James, 79). Gally always suspected Thomas as the one causing disasters in the Glade, but he was wrong. Thomas was sent there to help them with their problems and get them out of the maze. As mentioned before, when he came to the Glade he was known as “The key to everything”, meaning only he might be the only one who can solve the maze. Therefore, Thomas proves his self-confidence, by believing in himself and not caring what others say about him because he knows that he will decipher the scary
