There were just few African-Americans and Mexicans and I could barely find Asians. The lack of diversity in my high school could be seen clearly in lunch time. Students grouped themselves in each table such as all blacks in one table, all Mexicans in one table, even whites grouped themselves based on interests or sport teams. Moreover, until now, I am in college, and my classes are full of diverse students, but I still tend to talk and hangout with Asians rather than other races. District Profile The Martin County School District (MCSD) consists of 20 schools servicing more than 19,000 students. The district received an “A” rating from the state of Florida for the 2016-2017 school year, reflecting an increase from a “B” rating in 2015-2016. The district continues to strive to meet the needs of its diverse learners from both an academic and social/emotional perspective, so that students can be successful as they enter life beyond MCSD. The charts below represent the racial make-up of the student and staff populations. Additionally, nearly 40% of the student population is economically disadvantaged.
The United States Army and West Point are dedicated to the respect of others and to respecting diversity. Each member of the Armed Forces is unique and his or her identity should be respected. Growing up as a military child, I have been exposed to all sorts of people and cultures that are different from my own. Furthermore, many of my classmates, teammates, and friends have come from different backgrounds and I have learned to work successfully with all people. From my experiences growing up around many different cultures of people and from working with them, I believe that I will be successful in working with any person at West Point and in the U.S. Army.
Over the next few years North Carolina Central University will be more diverse in the student body because of the world itself is already diversed. NCCU will have more diversity over the next years because of the academics that it provides, the motto that we stand by “Truth and Service” and because of the generous people that work here. Also the professors that teach the students the outstanding knowledge that will lead them and stick with them for the rest of their lives. NCCU was founded by James E. Shepard and opened on July 5, 1910. His reason for building the institution was because in that era in time the support for African American education in the southern states was very limited.

Losen wrote a policy brief called “Discipline Policies, Successful Schools and Racial Justice.” This piece is a compilation of reviews conducted by researchers that address racial disparities in schools regarding disciplinary policies. Arne Duncan, the Secretary of Education, delivered a speech that suggested “that students with disabilities and Black students, especially males, were suspended far more than their White counterparts.” For example, research conducted in 2006 found that “over 28% of Black male middle school students had been suspended at least once, nearly three times the rate for White males.” () Another key point is that law makers and school officials should keep schools safe while using alternative practical methods

And it's not fair they don't get the same amount of materials and resources as the white kids do.
Hoekenga (2012) noted that the U.S. Census Bureau estimates that the Hispanic population in the U.S will reach 132.8 million by the year 2050, when almost one in three Americans will be Hispanic. Yet today Hispanic students (as well as other minorities) continue to be underrepresented in the STEM disciplines (Hoekenga, 2012). In the face of these disparities Hispanic scientists have had a major and lasting impact on the world around them. In many cases they overcame obstacles, including racism and sexism, poverty, cultural and family expectations, and lack of mathematics background, in order to work and excel in the fields that they love.
Youth of color specifically are at an increased risk of being suspended at an extended time out of schools. Consequently, they are casted into the streets, which ultimately sends them into juvenile detentions or into prison. The problem of racial and ethnic disproportionality in the discipline of schools is not new issue. In 1974, in one of the earliest investigations of disciplinary policies and practices, “the Children’s Defense Fund revealed that suspension rates for African American students were between two and three times higher than those for white students”( Thomas Rudd February 05, 2015) Ongoing research are still showing that in many places, this problem have worsened significantly.
In the United States, using the term “model minority” to describe Asian Americans does not negate the fact that they are still a minority who deal with the same hardships and discrimination as other minorities. Issues such as these are undeniably in the school systems that are inhabited by large numbers of these students with Asian backgrounds. They are exemplified by the bipolar historical treatment of Asian Americans, the numbers that matter in education today, and in the problems created and overcome by the people that face them. Have you ever thought about how we got integrated schools? There were many things that led up to what we now see as normal today. Something like education for African Americans can seem so simple today, but seem so complicated for people in past years. One of the things that helped us with integrated schools was a few people who were called the Little Rock Nine. Central High was one of the first schools to be integrated.
It was my first day at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJ). I entered the building and silence rippled through the hall and hung in the air like heavy fog until a sharp whisper cut through. “It’s a black guy.” Those were the first four words I heard in high school and those four words have stuck with me for the past three and a half years. TJ is no stranger to the issue of race; race has been a dark stain on the history of my high school, most notably when it came under investigation by the NAACP in 2012 for disparities in admissions.
Brown Did Not Help the Economic Problems of African Americans Justice Earl Warren fought tirelessly to have a unanimous Supreme Court decision in the case of Brown v. Board of Education. The justices knew this would be a landmark case (Urofsky, Seminar). While Brown was a step in the right direction, not only did it not solve the problem of school segregation, but it did not solve the root of the Jim Crow laws. By ruling on segregation specifically in education and not addressing the economic issues that plagued African Americans, Brown did not have the positive effect on race relations in the south that it could have. During the summer before my freshmen year of high school, one of the most significant changes in my life occurred: I moved from the busy, populated city of Arlington, Texas to the rural, “all- white” Jackson County, Tennessee. The educational system in America contains numerous racial disparities that affects the very core of the children who is suppose to benefit from education. This disparity comes in many forms in primary schools, a teacher’s attitude being one of them (Epps, 1995).
