If you are then we are similar in that aspect. People who are introverted and want to work in the medical field would find being a Diagnostic Radiologist is appealing. As a Diagnostic Radiologist, you would not need to see patients directly; you would just need to sit back and evaluate records to diagnose medical issues. As a diagnostic radiologist, your job is to review the patient’s charts and observe their scans and medical images in order to discover what is wrong with the patient in addition to looking into what could be the best way to give treatment to the patient. Wyatt 2 Unfortunately, the education for becoming a Diagnostic Radiologist is long, arduous, and at times, incredibly tedious. There are many steps involved in becoming a Diagnostic Radiologist that go beyond high school. The journey to becoming a diagnostic radiologist is going through college, medical school, MCAT(Medical College Admission Test) testing, an internship, a residency, and a fellowship (Callie Torres umhs-sk.org). Radiology also has many subspecialties which require another one to two year fellowship. Though there are many to choose from, the highlight for this essay is specifically Diagnostic Radiology which happens to have a desirable 1 year fellowship. Once finished with all the requirements to become licensed and certified looking for employment will be easier than completing the education needed. Equally important are the skills a Diagnostic Radiologist needs. There are a multitude of them, but the most important ones would be communication, thinking, and refined motor skills, but these are just a few of the critical proficiencies that are required to do your job up to par (Jennifer Alyson work.chron.com). Communication skills are one of the most indispensable skills to have as, even if you know what is wrong, if you are unable to communicate effectively it Wyatt 3 is a frivolous task. Thinking is also an essential skill that can be broken down into three parts: logic, reasoning, and judgment, which are all paramount. Motor skills are a major part as well. If you are not able to use critical thinking at speedy rates, the education you worked on so hard will not be of much use, because this job is incredibly demanding, high pressure, and high stakes. Ultimately becoming a diagnostic radiologist is a long and difficult journey, and it has a plethora of steps.
