Gold brings an importance in the novel, Rain of Gold. Most people depend on gold here because it’s what gets them through life. It creates a huge impact in someone's life because with gold you can buy many things that show your wealth and importance. Without it, not many people would have anything. Even if it’s a peck of gold it is still enough to change someone's life. In the novel, Rain of Gold, many people's lives change but in a negative way due to gold because it creates a new view for them, making them greedy, careless, and blind.

His greed started showing when he ran out of gold because he started showing the need in wanting more than what he already had (Longman Dictionary). Due to that he was gonna betray the trust of the people who had faith in him. He was a coward for not apologizing to the people. He ended up not destroying it himself because of God's word. In the bible it is said, “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.” (1 Timothy 6:10). He was blinded by gold and love because in order to be with the one he loved, he thought showing off the gold he had found would let him be with his loved one. It ended up backfiring him and killing him. He died because he was too persistent and carless. The gold he wanted was too deep, that he needed to use an explosion that could risk his life if used too much of. He didn’t care though and ended up in the explosion killing him, not having a chance to be with his loved one or live a life with the gold he had. No matter how pure your intentions were, sometimes you need to be logical about things risking your life.
