There once was an elf who was very grumpy. He didn’t like making friends, having fun, or parties. He specially hated the winter solstice, the shortest day in the year and the one day where every elf and magical creature got together to throw the biggest parties. “This year will be different.” Grumpy thought, rubbing his hands together excitedly as he watched the other elves and magical creatures setting up and decorating the forest for the winter celebration. He watched from way up high on a tree as soft glowing crystals were hung from tree branches, endless strings of flowers wrapped around the trunks of trees and twinkling wispy lights strung together and tied to the roofs of their wooden houses. Grumpy shrugged, “Not my problem, I’m going to sleep.” With those words, he slammed his door closed, went back to bed, put a pillow over his head and tried to go back to sleep. But no matter how hard he tried, Grumpy couldn’t sleep. The sad cries of his friends and the others kept him away. Grumpy heard felt heavy. He had found the one thing he hated more than happy laughter and celebrations. He couldn’t stand another second of their sadness! “Alright, it was me!” Grumpy said, throwing the door of his home open and stepping outside. A gasp came from all around him as he continued saying, “I did it all. I’m responsible for ruining the celebration!” “Why, Grumpy?” sniffled Tinkie, fluttering her tiny wings. “Because I hate parties, I hate hearing your happy giggles and silly songs. I hate being surrounded by so much happiness when I’m always sad and alone!” Grumpy said, stumping his feet. “But I hate seeing you so sad even more, so I’ll make it better.” Many of the forest creatures grumbled and walked away, mad at Grumpy and not believing that he could save the
