Ralph Lauren has lived a very successful life and will continue to impact the fashion industry in the future. He has created many great designs and trends and his brand will continue to do so. He once said “People ask how can a Jewish kid from the Bronx do preppy clothes? Does it have to do with class and money? It has to do with dreams.” showing his story on how he went from a poor kid with good style to a rich man with amazing style. He was a boy with dreams that soon became his reality. Ralph Lauren, born October 14, 1939, was born in Bronx, New York City. (Colin Mcdowell) His last name is not originally Lauren, but Lifschitz which he changed at the age of 16. Since Lauren designed his own line, there have been about 30 sub-brands under the original Ralph Lauren line. There are sub-brands for lifestyle, home, sportswear, menswear, and womenswear. Most of his brands are highly luxurious, which has made him an incredibly wealthy man. Ralph’s womenswear line was launched in in 1971. This line was categorized into four groups, which were collection, classics, country, and active. Another Ralph Lauren collection included various types of athletic gear. He became the first designer to officially outfit the players at Wimbledon. From his sports partnerships,he began labeling his designs with the “Big Pony” logo. Ralph Lauren’s career truly began when people noticed his looks from The Great Gatsby, but he designed outfits for several other movies and television shows. He designed Diane Keaton’s stylish wardrobe in Annie Hall and he helped create several looks for Downton Abbey. He did not style any of Rachel Green’s outfits in the show Friends, but he made an appearance in several episodes of the extremely popular television
