Former First Lady, Rosalynn carter once said “A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don't necessarily want to go, but ought to be.” A great leader has 5 main Qualities Charismatic, Responsible, Authoritative, Intelligent, Strategic. In the novel Lord of the Flies there are two characters one's name is jack and one is Ralph. Ralph went by Rosalynn carter's Quote. Jack was a good leader. He took people to where they wanted to be. While Jack is a good leader he lacks the qualities that Ralph has as a great leader. While Jack was leader he was able to relate to everyone. Jack doesn't act responsible he is just like all of the kids but he has a hunger for power which is good to have when you're the one in charge. Even though he wasn't as responsible Jack knew that there were things that had to be done for them to survive. For instance 6“We’ll have rules! He cried excitedly. “Lots of rules! Then when anyone breaks em--” (pg. 33). He made sure that there was rules so that there would be an order. He had people to hunt and gather. When Ralph first woke up from the crash found the conch. “the conch was silent a gleaming tusk; Ralph’s face was dark with breathlessness and the air over the island was full of bird- clamor and echoes ringing. “I bet you can hear this for miles”. Ralph found his breath and blew a series of short blast. Piggy exclaimed “there’s one!” A child appeared among the palms” (pg. 17). Ralph was really smart to find the conch and then blow it to see if there was anyone else from the plane crash that was alive and roaming around. And he did find everyone by using the conch. In theory if Ralph didn’t have the idea to blow the conch then nobody would be found and they wouldn’t all work together and
