The average television commercial is approximately thirty seconds long. In that time the producers are trying to incorporate as much positive information as possible, and explain why the audience needs that product. The goal is to persuade the consumer to crave the object being advertised. Effective commercials can leave a lasting emotion on the viewer. Memorable commercials can be comical, emotional, powerful, and show viewers the latest trends. One special commercial that stood out is “Chance the (W)rapper Break”. He sees his face on it as it is singing. Chance shows an intrigued emotion as the camera pans to his family. The women he looks at, as it appears to be his mom, is also confused and not amused, but his little brother is laughing and entertained by it. The camera pans back to Chance as he shrugs. The Kit Kat bar whispers to him “We are both Chance the (W)rapper”. He responds back saying “No, I get it.” and displays an expression on his face that seems to convey the question “Are you kidding me?”. As the scene comes to a close, the Kit Kat bar closes the scene like curtains as the Kit Kat song is sung by Chance. Each commercial targets a specific audience. The audience that this commercial draws in are between preteen and around the age of 30. Chance the Rapper is an artist in the hip-hop industry that has made his rise in the past couple of years. One way this is being done is by the actor’s clothing, which is all casual. This brings the actor’s normality, connecting to the audience and showing how the actors are no more special than the audience. Simultaneously, it connects how Chance is being perceived as a normal person. He is in a candy store with his family and not being swarmed by fans trying to take pictures or getting autographs from him. He is just a normal guy living his life like the rest of the audience. One sizable connection, especially with Chance the Rapper’s fans, is the selection of clothing. The plain white t-shirt and the skin tight black pants are not that important, the important part is what is on his head. The red hat with the number three on it has a lot of symbolism. Chance always wears hats, more specifically, with the number three on it. Chance always loved to wear hats in high school, and the teachers would take them away. The meaning of wearing hats to him is being a rebel. Even though Chance knew his hats were going to be taken away, he still wore one. The number three on his hat is not any old number to him, this number resembles his third mixtape The Coloring Book. This mixtape has so much significance to him, considering how far it has brought him in the past years.
