Question: What stereotyped representation of male and female characters can we identify in traditional fairy tales.

Stereotype representation by good female characters that are identified in traditional fairy tales are known to be the princess, usually mistreated and get saved by their true love. In the movie Tangle Rapunzel who is the main character is taken away by a wicked witch and locked up in a tower because of her luscious golden hair. Rapunzel is then found by a stranger and eventually falls in love with him and they get married happily. In the movie Tangled Eugene Fitzherbert, who is Rapunzel true love states ‘She was a princess worth waiting for.” This quote that is directed at Rapunzel tells the audience that she was a princess and that her personality and character traits were so fine she was worth the wait. It also states that Rapunzel has hair with magical powers as she says in the film ‘ I have magic hair that glows when I sing.’ These quotes tell the audience that her hair has powers that are useful; it also shows her hair being ridiculously long and golden throughout the movie. Tangled, which is an animated fairy tale, tells the tale of Rapunzel.
