In his short story, ¨The Veldt¨, author Ray Bradbury uses a theme of greed to develop the reader's understanding that too much of anything isn't good for anyone. For example, George Hadley feels that he and his wife, Lydia, have given their children everything they ever wanted with their "reward being- secrecy, disobedience?". (Bradbury 7) Wendy and Peter have been spoiled their whole life whilst never being told no. They have not developed a respect for their parents because neither George nor Lydia Hadley uses their backbone in the child-parent relationship after buying the smart home.
