Philadelphia, was the heart of the land, where star basketball player Sergio Taylor (Eric D. Hill Jr.) and his siblings Jackie Taylor (Keke Palmer) and June Taylor (Corey Hardrict) face many hardships, when they are trying to make something of themselves. With the passing of their father, June has to step up to the plate and take care of his younger siblings and his mother, Mrs. Taylor (Macy Gray), who is facing challenges adjusting to her late husband's death. June's main priority is to keep the family financially stable by any means and, to make sure his brother, Sergio, focuses on his basketball career and his sister, Jackie, pursues her music career. Despite the film's lack a realism in portraying the consequences of certain actions taken place, Brotherly Love's site transforms those starry-eyed events into something much more believable due to the fact that, that particular area has many events such as the one taken place in the movie, from neighborhood beef to murder. On top of that, the film fills the audience's mind with visual reminders that there are many families all around that actually live in areas that contain many gang related crimes, murders, and robberies like in Brotherly Love. While the downplay of the crimes are not greatly emphasized, the cast that committed the crimes and was part of the lifestyle brought the movie to life. For example, Chris Collins (Quincey Brown) a nice clean-cut gentleman from the opposing neighborhood of the Taylor's, the hills, played an innocent man until laying June Taylor to rest right in the back of the Overbrook High school during the dance. In regards to the others like June Taylor, his attitude and his ability to remove his emotion from his character played a major ordeal. As for Jackie Taylor her part as the baby sister and only having older brothers fits her innocence role because, in her brother's eyes she could never do wrong and they will always protect her. Directed, Jamal Hill, handpicked a solid cast that mastered their crafts giving them the ability to deliver such astonishing performances throughout the
