Did you know that more than 160,000 fast food restaurants feed more than 50 million americans every day! In the non fiction text, Mcjobs, by Eric Schlosser, it talks about the “dangers of fast food.” Eric Schlosser states that back in the 1900s there was not a single fast food restaurant in Martinsburg, but still, people somehow managed to eat and survive. Fast food restaurants serve very cheap food along with it being made very fast, but the food is processed and frozen, which can lead to a lot of diseases and disorders. Fast food restaurants might be very cheap and fast, but it is not healthy at all and it can be replaced with a lot of smaller healthier snacks.
In the story Grapes of Wrath the author , John Steinbeck, includes the tale of a desert turtle crossing the street as a form of foreshadowing to the journey of the Joad family to California. The turtle’s tale opens with it crawling though the dead grass on its way to the other side of the street. This is comparable to the Joads while they were living in Oklahoma during the dust bowl because of the harsh conditions the Turtle is working though is much like the conditions the Joads are living in. The main point in both of these articles that both authors agree with is the fact that people don’t add up all their calories they eat daily, which should be less than or equal to 3500 calories. When you go to a fast food restaurant, usually a normal “healthy” person would get a salad, large drink, and a side item like fries; this normally doesn’t seem like a lot of calories, but then you add the dressing and this healthy lunch turns out becoming an unhealthy 1700 calories already in one meal. Not only is fast food a lot of calories, but it is really cheap too, and most people spend their money on this instead of eating healthy and spending more money. “Americans spend less than 10 percent of their income on food; they also spend less than a half hour a day preparing meals and little more than an hour enjoying them” (Pollan 439).

In an article from national society they mention that the foods that are killing people slowly isn’t only the fast food or the high processed foods that is found in the grocery store but the extremely processed salts, and refined sugars. It is mentioned that because of that it can cause autoimmune diseases. Schlosser also mentions one of the diseases that are deadly if not treated properly, “ More than half of all American adults and about one-quarter of all American children are no obese or overweight”(240). All this had started since the late 1970’s and its still going on in this day in age, but many do not want to realize that it is something that n one should be proud of. Obesity happens because many people tend to consume fast food because it is the easiest option than taking time to make a nutritional meal.

He argues that almost all of the kids who eats at fast food joints are more likely to become obese. He then goes on to inform his readers that during his teenage years, he, like many other American kids, was surviving on fast-food due to it accessibility and affordability.

Our ancestors used to eat fatty foods for the caloric value, unlike most people who eat sweets for personal pleasure, they needed these foods to live and thrive. The calories in sweets today and typically nutrient free and we do not require as many calories as our ancestors did. Many people also turned to food when they were going through a tough situation. They would eat to avoid stress and their problems. This is an environmental cause, something around them would causes a problem and then cause them to over eat unhealthy food.
I believe that out of the four essays that we have read, the essay that present the best and most powerful argument is “Don’t Blame the Eater by David Zinczenko. Zinczenko’s argument is that private organizations have the responsibility to provide consumers with enough information in order to decide what to eat. He begins his argument by presenting his position when he was a kid and how he did not have a choice other than fast food. He claim “Then as now, these were the only available options for an American kid to get an affordable meal” (Zinczenko, 2015, p462 & 463). Zinczenko also mention how he was lucky enough to be able to change his eating habit and to learn how to manage his diet.
Fast Food Disaster About ten years ago a man named Caesar Barber, was addicted to eating at fast food. Such as, McDonald 's, Wendy’s, Burger King and KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken). Because of his this he had a heart attack. Caesar Barber gained 300 pounds! But, Caesar Barber had 4 to 5 meals a day.
We first went to advertising some num-nums that are flavorful like a chocolate cake. We had people taste the cake and after we asked them if they would continually buy the cake if they thought it was delectable but most said no because they did not want to gain weight. 6How crazy is it to believe that a few cakes will make someone fat. Their mindset set back the plan as that was a killer idea to get people to love a chocolate cake and have them gain weight to create peace. Instead it revealed another plan.
Today there are a vast variety of fast food chains that are inexpensive and convenient to many. For most, it is the perfect opportunity to relieve some stress from a long day at work, school, or at home with the children. Fast food can taste so good and almost seem necessary when the cravings are kicking in, a fact for most of the people surrounding me. I have personally tested this theory many times in different situations, and the results are always the same. Fast food has become a significant problem with my health, which caused unnecessary weight gain, the lack of energy, stress and an overall unhealthy lifestyle.
