Most people know that the United States dropped two atomic bombs on Japan during World War Two. But what most people don’t know is why the United States decided to drop weapons of mass destruction on their enemies. America decided to develop and use atomic bombs during World War Two to save both American and Japanese lives, end the war, and to have a defense against Germany. One of the main reasons the United States decided to drop the atomic bombs was to save lives. While it may seem contradictory, by dropping the atomic bomb, the number of lives lost was minimized.
Although it was inhumane and horrific, we were justified in dropping the atomic bombs because American soldiers were being tortured, American bodies were disrespected after death, and the bombs ended the war preventing more American casualties. The first reason that America was justified in dropping the atomic bombs is that American soldiers that were captured in Japan were being tortured. When Japanese soldiers captured American soldiers, they needed some way of trying to get them to give up valuable information because the U.S soldiers wouldn’t just tell them for no reason. So they began torturing them in hopes they’d crack. Document 2 showed the numerous
The article states, “It achieved its primary objective of shortening the war.” (History on the Net 15) Dropping the bomb actually shortened the war, which also means there were less deaths compared to how many more there would have been if they did not drop the bomb, and the war may have gone on for much longer without the bomb. The article adds, “President Truman and the Allies issued a final ultimatum to Japan, known as the Potsdam Declaration” (History on the Net 19). The president and the Allied powers gave further warning about the bomb and even issued a final compromise, Japan still didn’t do anything and refused to cooperate, which forced the US to drop the atomic bomb on Japan.
In the twentieth century, the United States dropped two atomic bombs, which were the most powerful weapons at that time, on Japan. It happened on August 6 and August 9, 1945. The atomic bombs killed 226,000 Japanese and ended the war. However, America should not have dropped the atomic bombs for two reasons. First, it was not necessary to drop the bomb to win the war militarily or to get the Japanese to surrender.
To avoid invading Japan and losing military forces, the bomb was created and dropped over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This was an impact on the whole nation of Japan emotionally/ mentally, but physically on the general public of the two targeted cities. Discussions about the atomic bomb has always been common and all over the place. It’s important because the United States could be in a different
Soon the U.S was attacked by Japan. The President then decided to drop the atomic bomb to end this war and quickly. Daniella Gat GlobalA 1 U.S actions during the Cold War were not justified. It has probably happened many times in life when you take actions and someone gets mad or doesn 't agree. Then you must come up with any reason possible to make it justified, but sometimes not everything can be justified. For example, a person murdering a random person they have never met before and do not know, can’t be justified. The actions that the U.S took during the Cold War are similar to this, as they weren’t always justified.
World War II introduced the most dangerous weapon in the world, the atomic bomb. When the US used it on Japan we went to far and caused unnecessary damage to the people. Many people believe this to the only truth but, the real truth is that dropping the atomic bomb was a necessary evil we had to use in order to win the war in World War II and future wars to come. There are many reasons why it could be argued that the dropping of the atomic bomb was justified. One reason is that Japan was warned, they were given plenty of opportunities to surrender such as the Potsdam declaration. The Declaration was issued to Japan by President Truman and the Allies of America after America had tested the Atom bomb on July 26th. The declaration was a proposition of surrender to Japan that linked directly to the dropping of the atomic bomb.
President Truman and his associates believed that if they dropped the bomb they would receive surrender from Japan. Thus, saving millions of American lives, and ending the war. Nevertheless, by saving American lives they would sacrifice thousands of Japanese civilians. They had other idea to have Japan to surrender, but were willing to take the one that would have the most consequences. They were thinking too much about the US instead of creating actually peace within the nations.
As all the world has known, the biggest atomic bomb in warfare history by the end of World War 2 is the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima that hit on August 9th, 1945 by the direct order of our 33rd president of The United States Of America; Harry S. Truman. He thought this bomb would bring a close ending of the war (World War 2) and it definitely did but it was too much to handle afterwards when it hit. There was no choice for Truman because there was no other way to bring the war into a close. It was the last call, but they didn’t realize that after they released the bomb, it was hard to decide whether it was a mistake or the right decision. The bomb killed innocent people of 199,000 (plus more).
When Harry Truman wanted World War 2 to be over when he made the decision to get revenge on Japan when they got the U.S. involved with the war on December 7,1941. Japan attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii, upsetting the U.S. and making them strike back. The Japan attack resulted in destroying 20 american naval vessels, 8 battle ships, and 300 planes. 2,000 american soldiers and sailors died and 1,00 were wounded.
Thousands of Japanese military personal and civilians were killed the dropping of the atomic bomb. This was a very important turn the war because the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki forced the Japanese to surrender rand withdraws from the war. The American government did the right thing when they bombed Japan. America wanted to end the war with Japan and they believed that an economic blockade and conventional bombing would force the Japanese to surrender and pull out of World War II .President stated that the bomb was a military weapon and that he never had any doubts that it should be used as such.
The dropping of the atomic bombs on World War II on the city of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a very important part of World War II. The atomic bomb ended the war between America and Japan. This was just one of the important events during the battle in World War II. The Battle at Pearl Harbor, where the Japanese attacked U.S. soil was also why the americans bombed Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Some believe that the United States was correct in dropping these bombs on Japan because of the attack on Pearl Harbor while others believe that it was very wrong to dropped the bomb.
