Most days going out to haul are pretty predictable but occasionally we find the unexpected. Well it's time for a story. It all started on a beautiful day I was down on the warf that I worked off of this summer. That day we were using six trays of herring and four boxes of red fish four bait. There was a little breeze that was to the south-east and it was nice. We start to head out, as Darrel steered the boat out of the harbor I was getting my oil gear. That's when I start to rapidly fill bait bags and set three up so I could get ahead. From time to time I glance over towards Darrel, not the most fun person to work for. He's pretty picky and a little peculiar. He has hair about four inches hanging out of his ears like their searching for a way out. The tide was down so we had to be careful of the rocks and other things. Today we we're hauling a three day set just to see if they we're running that far in the mud. There was a total of three hundred and fifty traps there with a red fish and one large mesh bait bag. That had taken five hours and the ride back was half an hour. A line of some sorts or some in a close distance to each other )inside the river were left so we started on the first string behind the mouth. At this point we realize that we need to get to the next string fast so we decided to go do the middle one and go back to the last one and work that way. Then we realized that the bait was kinda low on bait so I had taken some of the bait out and disturbed into the of bag and continued to fill them with about two end a half pounds.
