What makes and decides a good villain? Perhaps it is brutality, power, evil, or maybe even a lack of evil. Some great villains are colorful and even funny. However, I think that the best villains are heroes in their own eyes and present us with morally grey dilemmas that make us think. Jason Todd, aka Red Hood, is just such a villain. Jason grew up on the streets of Gotham until he was eventually taken in and trained by Batman who made Jason his second Robin. Much later the Joker nearly beat him to death with a crowbar and then killed him with an explosion. Even though he died, he was later revived and healed through use of the Lazarus Pits and became infuriated when he learned that the Joker was still alive. Swearing vengeance on the Joker and on Batman (for not killing the Joker) he returns to Gotham to become the scourge of its underworld. About a year later he dons the alias Red Hood. A striking appearance, morally ambiguous actions, a unique outlook, and an incredible array of skills make Red Hood one of the most interesting villains to date. …show more content…
Tall, muscular and lean, a smooth, red, form-fitting mask covers his face and head, serving only to protect his identity and to strike fear in his enemies. Eyes widen and heads turn with whiplash speed when he appears before his foes. He is clad in dark fully-plated armor and ironically sports a red Batman logo on his chest. Not without a sense of style, Red Hood is almost always seen wearing a brown unzipped jacket over his armor not unlike those worn by combat
