My Identity Defined My Identity is a collaboration of the other people who have had an impact on me, as well as the experiences I have undergone and endured so far in my life.. My heritage and ethnicity influences me to an extent, but it does not necessarily define me. I consider my identity to be how I see myself and what strengths I posses. I have produced the identity I hold, and outside forces have only positively influence me and helped to better myself as a person. My identity will continue to change shape as I grow both physically and mentally. I currently define my identity as being an adaptable, learning, and developing 19 year-old women who is influenced greatly by people and history. Being adaptable, I discover my future one choice at a time. I “go with the flow” and the present greatly catches my attention. To some degree I plan things out, but I am willing to adjust to accommodate peoples needs or change in circumstances. Just like my identity, I think each individual is a work in progress and packed with possibilities. I am inclined to make sacrifices that benefit others and put their needs before mine. It is difficult for me to “blow things off” because letting people down is one of my biggest fears. I value others and put them in high regard, and this has helped me become a more loyal and genuine person. My friends constantly come to me for advice knowing that I am willing to listen and help them however I can. They know that my helpfulness is genuine, yet it is also fulfilling to me.
