Lewis Sage narrowly avoided my grip once before the incident. He was fighting the Confederates on the battlefield, and I had already collected a total of twenty-three souls. Just as a confederate soldier aimed his gun towards Lewis, a Union soldier dove in front of him, taking the bullet straight into his chest. This man was Albert Willman. Albert Willman died in Lewis Sage’s arms.
Overall, in the book, Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, there are some very strong and applicable points that I believe, should be shared as much as possible. For instance, in the entire book one, Lewis rambles on about the moral law of society, and the outcome of peoples over complicated ways of thinking. He mentions the so called standard of behavior, which it upheld by the thinker to believe that whatever way he sees the situation should be the right way, and however the situation is presented in his mind is how it should be played out. Lewis gives many diverse examples of this action such as, sharing a “bit of orange,” since I “gave you some of mine.” the greed involved with the way of thinking is what Lewis called the law of nature.
“For where your treasure is there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21 KJ) In C.S. Lewis’ book, “Out of the Silent Planet,” the character Dr. Ransom is faced with numerous new and frightening situations. Dr. Ransom lives in England and is exploring different towns. Unexpectedly, he encounters an old schoolmate, Devine, who’s ways seemed peculiar.
“Wisdom is knowing what to do next, skill is knowing how to do it, and virtue is doing it (author anonymous).” Virtue is defined by Webster Online Dictionary as a conformity to a standard of right, a particular moral excellence. As Christians, we are instructed to stand apart from this dark and ominous world, to be a light in the darkness. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.” The question then becomes, is averting evil enough to generate a virtuous person or must it be an active choice?

John Lewis's life was defined by several significant turning points that shaped him into the civil rights leader he became. The graphic novel March: Book One, co-authored by Lewis himself, details his early life and his experiences with racial segregation and discrimination, beginning with his childhood in rural Alabama and culminating in his decision to join the civil rights movement. Through these experiences, Lewis learned the power of nonviolent resistance and became a passionate advocate for social justice. My question is, while reading the book what was a chance that John Lewis had that you would personally take?

With the fast development of modern society, people suffer from stress from their family and work, so they start to seek ways to release their pressure in their lives. Moreover, people usually unconsciously sums up their own experience in positive views . In the essay “Immune To Reality” by Daniel Gilbert, he refers to the idea of “psychological immune system”, a tendency of human to adjust their negative perspective to another one, when people are suffering from wrenching setback. The tenacity of human psyche and its ability of self-protection make people form walls to protect themselves. Although some people use their walls unintentionally, they rely on those walls to protect themselves from adversity and to support these untrue beliefs.
“The hardest part of growing up is letting go of what we are used to and moving on to something you are not”-Paul Walker Growing up is one of the hardest, as well as one of the most important parts in life. As the novel advances Scout experiences various emotional changes because of different events that take place. She starts to realize the unfairness that exists between different races and the discrimination that is rounding at the time.
It’s difficult to pinpoint a specific moment in one’s life in which your life is transformed. We often realize that this moment is so signingagent when looking back on personal experiences and don’t realize it at the time. For me, this moment occurred when I realized that I had taken what I love most for granted. It all started back in 2004 when my family suggested that I get into a sport at a young age.
There are many incidents one met in life that change the whole concept of living. Similarly I had an incident which not only change my vision towards life but also to the words you speak and how much they hurt someone enough that you then regret of saying them. It was a very dull morning for me.
