Critical Self-Assessment and Reflective Essay
Introduction
Being a senior manager in a large scale social service organization, I am now managing a team (more than 50 colleagues) to provide social services for children and youth in the community. My major duty is to make strategic plan for service development as well as to provide overall supervision/monitoring for my fellow colleagues for actual implementation. I, in particular, need to provide clinical supervision/consultation for social workers. Being a profession, I am facing with the challenge that I am not good enough at handling human relationship as well as to involve my colleagues in decision making process.

Personality usually means an overall description of temperament, habits, feelings, behavior and thoughts of a person (Funder, 2001). Obviously, personality can have great influence on an individual leadership. When I review my leadership style in what shape I am, I have identified myself most with the shape of Triangle. Being a “Triangle Man”, my leadership style is quite dominiative and aggressive to a large extent. While this shape of leadership enhances my team to be effeiceint and effective to give good responses toward the change of the world as well as I am serve a *good teacher* to lead my colleagues to achieve the goal, the triangle shape cannot facilitate me well to develop a team with good rapport. Jung (Myers, Mcaulley, Quenk and Hammer, 2009). With identification of perfernce in four dichotomies can form 16 types of “personalities”. The first is Extraversion (E)-Introversion (I) Dichotomy which tries to understand an individual attitudes or orientations of energy. This E-I Dichotomy then explore direction of energy of an individual. The second one is Sensing (S) -Intuition (N) Dichotomy which how one’s perception processes or functions. In other words, preferences of S-N Dichotomy understands how a person gather information for action. The third dichotomy is Thinking (T)-Feeling (F) Dichotomy is observing the way of making judgement of an individual. Obviously, T-F Dichotomy represents how a person make decisions. The last dichotomy is Judging (J) –Perceiving (P) Dichotomy which is designed to identify the process of an individual to use to give response to the outer world. J-C Dichotomy let us understand how the person deals with the outer world
