Last year when I was in 8th grade I joined the track and field team. My main event that I did was the 100 meter dash I got an amazing time of 13.7 seconds, apparently I ended up qualifying for states in that race. I also made a solar system poster that took a lot of work but I got an A+,on it. The project was an extra credit project.
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary the definition of robbery is, larceny from the person or presence of another by violence or threat. Robbery is one of the highest forms of federal jurisdiction and each year 5000 bank robberies are executed in the United States alone (fbi.gov). On February 13, 1866, the first daylight bank robbery was committed in the US. This offense was carried out by the infamous James-Younger Gang. The group’s “claim - to - fame” was in fact this theft they committed the morning of the 13.
For the past years, different groups and organizations have wanted to change the mascot. To these groups and organizations, they felt that the mascot was offensive and disrespectful to them. Some Native Americans states that use of their imagery under the name “Indians” is offensive viewing Indians as warriors like in the back in the wild west. Here are some reasons why we need to keep the mascot 1) it is a symbol of our school that we take pride in.
As an athlete myself the athletics are a major part of why I would like to go to Archbishop Mitty High School. The wide range of sports means that if I grow tired of one sport I can move to another. With a lot of sports that do not need much experience since they are non-cut, I feel that I have many opportunities to shine in sports that I would otherwise never have attempted. Knowing that Archbishop Mitty High School has won so many awards in the athletic department, tells me that they are doing something right. At the open house, I had the chance to speck with athletes and coaches and that gave me a feeling that the athletics are another part of Mitty 's wonderful community.
In high school I have participated in a variety of extracurricular activities. As a freshmen I was a member of marching band. I was treasure and then secretary of the band council. Also, I was tuba section leader and low brass super section leader. As a sophomore I was secretary of SASA, “Students Against Substance Abuse,” and president my junior year.
When I first received the letter inviting me to apply for National Honor Society, my first thought was how incredibly proud I was for the amount of hard work and dedication I have put into my last few years of high school. When I was little, I looked up to the students who were decorated in cords and the National Honor Society stole when they walked across the stage at graduation. It is such a profound honor to be a candidate for National Honor Society. I have driven myself to be hard-working and to achieve as much as possible. Along with being hard-working and achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, I have decided to try new things and start the strenuous sport of cross country.
My junior year, I was awarded the outstanding junior award. I received this award for active participation, meeting attendance, and overall class grades. I was so excited and felt so proud to get this award. As a senior, it was time to give up my office to a younger FFA member who could fill the position after I graduated. We do this at our annual chapter banquet where awards are given, and scholarships are given.
In high school I was a part of thirteen activities and clubs ranging from National Honor Society and other volunteering clubs to Cross Country and Track. Of these thirteen, I was an exec for five. Most of my time was devoted to my roles in Cross Country as Team Captain, Student Council as Student Body Treasurer, Science Club as Co-VP, D.A.R.E club as an officer, and being a freshman mentor. Senior year my environmental science team took second place at both Regionals and State
I have always wanted to be a surgeon since I was a kid. Doctors were treated like gods in my home country, Ethiopia. I was a shy little boy who dreamt big in my neighborhood and people would make fun of my goal due to the fact that there were no doctors in our neighborhood. They believed that I was not smart and strong enough to be a doctor. Besides my mother and aunt, nobody knew what I was capable of.
National Junior Honors Society As an individual i have a lot of good qualities, like being a leader and helping people when they need it or standing up for what i know is right. I have a lot of good qualities and I think that my good qualities should be spread throughout my school and community. I am fond of being a leader. I do Cheer and Volleyball because I like to lead my team and show them how being confident in what you’re doing can make you strive for greatness.
Our athletic director got wind and personally drove and picked me up and dropped me off at the site with the rest of my team. It was incredible to see someone go that far out of their way for some scrawny little sophomore who might have gotten moved up to varsity a little too soon. But, I wasn’t the only one would could tell a story similar to that one. That man instilled the passion inside me to try to be close to the man he
As a freshman, I joined the chorus as a soprano. It was slightly intimidating that year because I was the youngest person in my section. Everyone
My life has been full of many opportunities to participate in things that I love and these opportunities have taught me fabulous lessons. Through my persistent hard work in the Clark high school marching band I have been very fortunate to learn important lessons about positivity, service and respect. Being in my high school’s marching band has drastically changed my life for the better. I would not have made it through all the curve-balls that school has thrown at me had it not been for the marching band, which taught me to find the positive in any and every situation. Working out and making countless mistakes in the scorching Texas heat does not seem like the ideal place to learn about positivity, however that is exactly what it is.
My determination to get better and overcome my obstacles paid off my senior year when I awarded second-team
The Lovell High School Concert Band had an amazing concert on the 30th of November. The songs included Celebration and Tribute, Sleigh Ride, Spirit of the Highlands, with a bonus of the combined band on Jinge, Jinge, Jingle. While all the songs were good, they were not spectacular. One that stands out to me is Celebration and Tribute. While Celebration and Tribute is not an extremely a technical piece, it still has its moments of fast notes and rhythms.
